IMG_0912Last week saw our Valley Notes Choir Festival achieve great success! Nearly 900 people packed out the King of Kings Baptist Centre to enjoy performances from a variety of choirs.

IMG_3247First up were Kommetjie Primary. They blew us away with their arrangement of “Little Spanish Town”. Their dynamic performance really is testament to the excellent work of their choir leaders, Anne-Marie Punt and Karin Gentle. Well done, Kommetjie!

IMG_3268Second to sing were Bay Primary who demonstrated spectacular bravery, and skill, with their stunning renditions of “Adiemus”, “Ordinary Miracle” and the popular South African hit; “Doo Bee Doo”. Not bad for a choir of only 13! Bay Primary Choir was led and accompanied by Evelyn Gould.

IMG_3290Sun Valley Primary really came to the party, with performances from both its Junior and Senior Choirs. The Junior Choir brought unrivalled energy to their songs, especially in their version of “Happy”. Megan Wylie has done wonderful work this year with Sun Valley’s Junior Choir.

IMG_3355Between each choir, the Silvermine Music Academy and Masi-Outreach violin ensemble under the leadership of violin tutor, Titia Blake, entertained us with rich sounds of harmony.

IMG_3256Last to take the stage were Sun Valley’s Senior Choir, who offered a mix of contemporary songs and classic hits. Being over 160 members strong, our Senior Choir brought a big sound, accompanied and led by Paige Bolton, Mike Raven and Debbie-Jayne Viljoen.

IMG_3421Unquestionably the highlight was our Mass Choir rendition of “Choirs Sing Tonight”. Adapting the lyrics of this popular song, all participating choirs were invited to join in unity, and collaborated above and beyond expectations! The Mass Choir song left our ears ringing, and our audience wanting more. We look forward to Valley Notes 2015. Watch this space.
