I had the privilege this week of being able to attend the opening of the SAP Auditorium at the Cape Town Science Centre. This exciting event was attended by our Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor. This event, taken place during our National Science Week,  was aimed at bringing to light the lack of STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills among our local youth as well as promoting our Africa Code Week happening later this year.

What was so fascinating about this event was the emphasis on the importance of computer programming as a skill for learners in helping them develop and improve their STEM results. 1 – 10 October is the all important month, as thousands of learners take part in coding workshops around Africa. We look forward to, as a progressive school, in being a part of this initiative as we introduce Robotics into our curriculum for the first time.
