Oral presentations in your second language can be very intimidating. Creating a role play based on a famous television show turns a chore into fun. The Grade 10s had to recreate a Masterchef SA show and the result was a lot of fun, good quality presentations and loads of yummy food to sample!

The Grade 9s practised the art of story telling. It was based on the television show Lie to Me – the Afrikaans version ended up being “Lieg jy vir my Liefie?”  The kids had to convince the class that their story was true. In story telling, presentation is very important, because that is how you convince people that your version is the truth. All of the students rose to the occasion, especially the boys and we were entertained with strange and wonderful facts dished up as the truth.

Role play is, and will stay, a huge part of Afrikaans Second Language Oral Assessment.
