The dictionary defines the term “Goal” as the object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.
To think of a goal and then actually set out to achieve it is a daunting task, especially if you have never tried to or have never managed to achieve a goal. For a lot of children the fear of failure is a big worry.
We need to remind ourselves that without failure, lessons cannot be learned. Therefore we need to be teaching our students to master the art of failing forward.
In saying this, our students have been goal setting since day one in Grade Three.
Our focus is on the hard work and effort needed to achieve the goals that are set, as well as the perseverance that our exceptional students can learn throughout the goal attaining process.
Well done, Grade Threes! You are showing tremendous grit!
