Painting is much more than just a simple activity. Painting is a way for children to do many important things: convey ideas, express emotion, use their senses, explore colour, explore process and outcomes, and create aesthetically pleasing works and experiences. Painting with children allows us to see much more than a simple picture. If we observe with careful eyes and ears, we gain tremendous information about each child.

The Grade 2 girls had so much fun experimenting by mixing paint to create new colours. They were encouraged to use their imaginations and creativity to create a painting of their choice.

The Grade 7s have just successfully completed their third week of our clay project. With this form of play-based learning, you might not realise it, but it’s encouraging their minds to get busy by thinking about what they are going to create and how they are going to create it. This type of creative play promotes imaginative problem-solving skills, esteem and expression.
