One of the hardest things with teaching Mathematics is to get the learners to believe that it can be fun. Maths is all around us, in our everyday lives, and to ignite a passion and create inquiring minds can be a challenge at times.
Exposing our Grade 6 Einsteins this week to fun activities like Maths 24, Rummy Cards, Math songs and capturing angles in nature has helped expose these mathematicians to the work of Mathematics and the love for learning while having fun.
Jean Driscoll said, “ The only limitations are those you place on yourself and those you allow others to place on you”.
Seeing these Brainiacs grow in their own abilities and stepping outside their comfort zone has been so rewarding. Continuing to expand their knowledge, indulge in thinking out-of-the-box moments and to realize that anything can be fun if you make it, is the way forward.
