The 2 days before the Gr 6 camp was filled with much anticipation for their outdoor experience at Mizpah Campsite close to Grabouw. And what an experience it was.
At arrival a visit to the Eskom Palmiet Visitors Center was enjoyed by all. We listened to an informative talk about the plant and the campers were able to identify dams and towers over the next 3 days.
This camp was something different. The Gr 6’s were divided into companies. Each company had its own consultant (GAP student) who guided their companies in making good investment decisions. Power bucks were given to each company to keep in their safe.
Value based company behaviours were decided upon and companies could earn more power bucks when staff identified these behaviors being displayed during the course of each day. Companies could also earn interest on their money by depositing it into the Mizpah Bank.
During activities, the companies had to work together for the good of their company in order to earn more power bucks. They discovered the importance of open communication, trust and getting everyone involved.
We were surrounded by beautiful nature and we were blessed with amazing weather. We’ve feasted like kings and queens. We enjoyed an evening camp fire and we laughed during theMinute-to-Win-it challenge. This is an experience our kids will hold onto for a very long time.
