Recently the Grade 4 children took a step back into the history of Fish Hoek. In the space of one day the children transformed themselves from 21st century children into children from the early 1900’s.
The first stop on our journey was at one of Fish Hoek’s earliest shops, AP Jones. Here the children paraded their outfits for the residents to see. This was the highlight of all the shopper’s day.
Once they had walked through AP Jones the children walked, very well behaved at that, to Fish Hoek Beach. This brought a smile and stare from every person on the street that day.
At the beach it was time for some lunch. Out came the old wicker baskets, picnic blankets, devilled eggs, lemonade and frikkadels. So much fun was had comparing lunch and attire.
Traditional beach entertainment then followed. Three-legged races, “egg” and spoon race and all topped off with a beach fashion show.
Great fun was had by all the children and the staff. The children loved seeing their work come to life and can’t wait for their next school field trip.
