nuvo-colour-flutes 2Flute lessons have been underway at the Music Academy since the beginning of this year. Last month, Silvermine Academy flute teacher, Pam Barr and some of her flute pupils treated the Grade 4 classes to a flute demonstration. Pam has been introducing our young musicians to flute playing using innovative and modern Nuvo flutes. These lightweight, colorful flutes are designed to make it easier for younger players to get to grips with the challenges of playing the flute. Made from plastic, they are lighter, durable and have curved head joints so that smaller arms and fingers can reach the keys easily.

Grade 4 pupil, Anna de Klerk entertained her peers with her flute playing, showing just how quickly and easy it can be to produce a sound and play a tune on the flute.

There are still places available for pupils to start flute lessons and sign up for Term 2. We have been able to source some of these fantastic flutes that are available for hire. For older pupils there is also the option of the beginning lessons on the traditional silver flute.
