Data Collection is the process of gathering and measuring information on variables of interest. Our Grade 11 students were asked to determine their body mass index (bmi).

The BMI is an attempt to quantify the amount of tissue mass (muscle, fat, and bone) in an individual, and then categorise that person as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese based on that value.

The session was all about Data Collection and BMI. The Grade 11 learners split into 3 groups, measuring and recording their heights and weights using a measuring tape and a scale. The collected data was used to calculate their body mass index (BMI).

The Grade 11s enjoyed this practical activity.
