The past few weeks our Grade Ones have been learning all about plants. Our Kirstenbosch field trip was the link to plants in our curriculum and we have carried this through within the classrooms.

The children have been learning about the parts of a plant and what a plant needs to grow. They have drawn and labeled their own plant, created a plant as a co-operative learning group and have also done a diagram of the needs of a plant. After all these activities our classes have become experts on plants!

They have thoroughly enjoyed the digital aspects of our lessons and enjoyed the Keynote presentations teaching them about plants. The Grade One teachers feel their classes are full of children with “green thumbs!”.
