Meaningful Learning refers to the concept that the learned knowledge is fully understood by the individual and that the individual knows how that specific knowledge relates to other knowledge stored in your brain or even to our daily life.

In meaningful learning, students are “integrating” new information into old information (Novak 2002). It engages students emotionally, socially and cognitively and promotes success.

From time to time through practical activities we try to assess if our students have meaningfully learned the topics taught. This morning, our Grade 11 Maths Lit students were tasked to determine the Area of the Silvermine Academy Campus. They were entirely responsible for the whole process.
