This week the Grade 3s have been discovering dinosaurs in a new way. They have been learning about the formation of fossils and how paleontologists use many different tools to unearth these natural treasures.

During a science and discovery lesson, we created our very own fossils with play dough and Plaster of Paris.

Each  student got to create their own playdough and get their hands dirty. They  molded their  playdough into a tupperware to form a base for their creation.

They used toy dinosaurs of various species and sizes to create an impression of a dinosaur into their playdough.

After the impressions were molded to their liking, Plaster of Paris was poured in and a fossil started to form.

The next day, very enthusiastic children rushed into the classroom to dig out their fossil creations!
