As a treat and an educational experience, the Grade 12 Consumer students were treated to High Tea at the 4 star award winning Vineyard Hotel in Claremont.  Their Practical Assessment task this year is to come up with a product suitable for a high tea. In order to give them first hand experience of this kind of function, we booked for tea!

The Vineyard Hotel’s location is not only beautiful, but also conveniently close to many of Cape Town’s popular spots and attractions. It is located on 6 acres of landscaped parkland right on the banks of the Liesbeeck River. As an award-winning leader in responsible hoteling, the hotel has a number of sustainability initiatives. On the property they have 80 solar panels, are supplied with green energy from the Darling Wind Farm, they harvest greywater and recycle 98% of their waste.

High Tea is served from 15:30 to 17:30 and we made full use of the afternoon to soak up the atmosphere of the beautiful venue.  The Grade 12’s were an absolute pleasure to take out and were a superb advert for our school.  The High Tea included a selection of cakes, pastries and savoury bites and a pot of tea or coffee.  What a memorable occasion with a very special bunch of Grade 12’s.
