“All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small…”

Term 2 is progressing wonderfully down at Sunbird as we journey from place to place discovering the various creatures that our world has to offer.  As always, our children enjoy learning through a variety of mediums such as storytelling, song, baking, movement, science, art and of course, play.

We started our journey close to home – learning about our pets and how to care for them. Our children eagerly shared stories about the furry, feathered and slimy animals that make up part of their families.

Next, we ventured into the farmyard where we encountered pigs, sheep, cows, horses, chickens and the like. With ‘old Macdonald’ on repeat our children enjoyed discovering more about this array of animals and the produce that they give us. The Sunbirds also had the chance to try their hand at farming when each class planted beans in cotton wool. The competition to grow the biggest bean plant is ON!

After quite enough time spent on land, we dove head first into the depths of the pond to continue our exploration of our world’s creatures. Our budding farmers have become budding pond-dippers as we delve into the wonders of this underwater ecosystem. Who knew that the likes of toads and frogs could be so ‘ribbeting’!

Things will only be getting wilder from here on out as we venture into the jungle and explore the depths of the ocean. What a wonderful world indeed!
