The matrics are in the home stretch of their school career and the Prelim and Final Exams are looming.

Most of their Afrikaans assessments for the portfolios are done, except the CAT assessments which consists of a blog, prepared speech and prepared reading. The theme for the Afrikaans CAT this year is, ” Afrikaans- ‘n taal vir vandag” in which they can reference articles, film reviews, songs, recipes and rap songs to illustrate that Afrikaans is a language in which young people can express themselves.

Assessments and exams, especially the Prelim and Final Exams, can be intimidating, but I encourage them to take the following words by Nelson Mandela to heart. “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” – Long Walk to Freedom.

The end is in sight! Let’s finish this race successfully, Matrics!
