Grade 6 has been dealing with food processing and healthy-eating styles. Each group had to study a particular eating style or diet and discuss its pros and cons.

It is amazing that at this tender age children are being given the tools for making healthy choices. Not only are their fruit and vegetable snack and lunch monitored but they are learning about important decisions to be made as they grow up.

Some groups studied the history of the Atkins Diet and how it compares to other modern diets. Others dealt with the Banting Diet as well as being a Vegetarian or Vegan, etc.

Groups put in the time and did extensive research in order to bring forth a powerful poster to educate others. Co-operative groups researched and got creative to make their masterpieces.

Co-operative groups presented their findings to their peers and allowed opportunity for questions afterwards. Nutrition was the name of the game and our grade 6s graduated as dieticians.
