We had the great privilege and honour in celebrating our Grade 5s GRITTY Achievements at their Grit Awards Ceremony.

On this special day our Grade 5 families could revisit all the awesome memories that we have shared this year and had a chance to step back from the hustle and bustle of life to see how far each child has come this year.IMG_0009 IMG_0158

Many personal goals and challenges have been conquered, and we have discovered many areas that can still be focused on. Each child received a unique award in areas that their teacher felt that they were the GRITTIEST.IMG_9872 IMG_9868 IMG_9863

Then in each class the GRITTIEST child was celebrated and highlighted as they received the Golden GRIT Award. We then celebrated those who showed the most Passion and Perseverance this year, awarding these children with the Red Rubber Ball Award.

Last but certainly not least we honoured those who showed great Emotional Intelligence; as they are able to identify their emotions, regulate their emotions and show empathy towards others.

As teachers we felt like proud parents watching our “babies” grow up and find their wings. It’s with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to our precious Grade 5s and watch them leave our nests and they find their new homes in Grade 6.IMG_0185 IMG_0177

The soon to be Grade 6s were left with these words as they lead out the hall through a guard of honour formed by their teachers, GAP Students and facilitators.

Grade 5s,“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Mark Twain said:

“20 years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines, sail away from the safe harbour, catch the wind in your sails, EXPLORE. DREAM. DISCOVER.”
