The Grade 3 and 4 students this term were put to task, to sketch a portrait of themselves.  In the first lesson, students were told to look at themselves in the mirror and to look at what details they have that no one else has. This included their eyes, nose, mouth, ears, lines and shapes. I explained to students that not every face is the same and that we are all different in our own beautiful and unique way.

Students were then given their half of their face I printed off and were told fill in the other half. Working one on one with them,  they learned how to draw a nose, mouth, ears and eyes. This also included the different shading and lines.

The pictures came out beautifully and the students had a blast with it. One Grade 4 student told me that he didn’t know that he can draw like this. Awesome!
