The buzzing excitement that fills the class when a handwriting lesson begins is contagious. As the letter is introduced, the Grade Threes eagerly practise its formation in the air with their finger and then on the back’s of their peers.

After the children have an understanding of the letter’s structure, they have the opportunity to try and try again in their Cursive Practise Books.

Each child has been working with GRIT as they focus on touching the top and bottom of the line and spacing out their letters. The determination is undeniable as the class carefully join letters to make words in cursive.

The Grade Threes are learning that knowledge is of no value, unless you put it into practise. Their desire to master the art of cursive is incurable as they eagerly consolidate each lesson by writing the letter on a white board, with a friend or even in the sandpit outside.

With each lesson, the Grade 3s are one step closer to being awarded their cursive licences, which will allow them to write in cursive permanently!
