The Grade 2s really dived deep into the theme of Penguins this Term. From learning all about them, to visiting them and then watching them in their natural habitat at Boulders Beach. The one area we’ve focused on and really encouraged, are the threats to penguins and how we can save them.

To show our appreciation of the conservation of these precious creatures, we decided that our fundraiser this year would be “adopting” penguins from SANCCOB. These penguins have either been abandoned, injured or are very weak. The adoption fee per penguin pays for its food, healthcare and other essentials for an entire year, giving it its very best chance to be released back into the wild.

As a grade we set a goal to try and adopt four penguins by the end of this term. However, due to the amazing donations received, we have been able to double our goal and adopt EIGHT penguins! We would like to highlight one of our Grade Two boys, Liam Nell, who went above and beyond to get sponsors to donate R2000 towards this cause, for the Junior Argus he will be doing.

We would like to thank all of the parents for their kind contributions – Perry, Pepper, Poppy, Pebbles, Peaches, Peter, Pancake and Patches are very grateful too!
