Recently, the Grade 5’s ventured off to Bhongolethu Foundation with the intention of creating meaningful connections and friendships with the Pre-Primary and Primary school learners.

The Grade 5’s had spent the prior weeks collecting toys, games, writing materials and any other educational supplies they could find to donate to the Bhonguletu Foundation. They were eager to share the love and fun of education with their little friends.

Upon arrival, our Grade 5’s were welcomed with open arms at both the Pre-Primary and the Primary school of Bhonguletu, by many energetic and excited faces. It was heartwarming to witness the instant connections between all the children, as well as the friendships that emerged.

Our morning was spent interacting with the learners of the various age groups; spoiling them with a healthy picnic, showing off our soccer skills and not to forget reading them (or being read to) a short little book.
The fun was endless, as was the joy experienced all around.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.”
