The Grade 8’s were set the task of designing a basic electrical circuit. They had to construct it in a creative way. We had campfires and fireplaces that “lit” up, house lights that turned on, “idea” bulbs above bunnies heads (?!) Everything the Grade 8’s could imagine!

We have been learning about the different components of a basic electrical circuit in Natural Sciences this term, so it was fitting to put that knowledge to good use in Technology. The clincher was that there was a set mark for whether or not your circuit worked! Creativity was important, but constructing a functioning circuit was also as important. A LOT of problem solving happened during the limited time the Grade 8’s had for construction. Some came close to tears as a solution seemed to elude them, but the joy when their light bulb turned on made all the hard work worth while!
