They will now complete the entire project at school. We have started off with the front cover. They will then need to fill in a questionnaire about their explorer, fill in on a map[Read More…]

In Technology today we will be “Making a dice”

In Technology today we will be “Making a dice”

I was so excited, what better way to “chill” after Assessments. My three male colleagues were not quite as excited. They informed me that there was no “chill” in sewing. Never the less we attacked the task enthusiastically. The Grade 7’s loved the challenge! We took a couple of short cuts, but the end products are colourful, and definitely look like a[Read More…]

The Afrikaans Eisteddfod is an opportunity for our learners to be exposed to and perform in their second, and for some, in their third language. The learners are given a choice of Afrikaans poems and they are required to learn the words off by heart. At school they are guided with the pronunciation of words, expression and tone of voice[Read More…]

Afrikaans Eisteddfod

Afrikaans Eisteddfod

This has been a challenging week for our Grade7’s! Formal Assessments and an Afrikaans Eisteddfod! I was particularly proud of those who had committed to participate in the Afrikaans Eisteddfod. On Monday, 21 May at 16:00, parents and students arrived for an amazing cultural hour of listening to Afrikaans poetry. It is a nerve wracking experience for all but as the adjudicator explained,[Read More…]

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day

What a lovely day we had last Thursday when our grandparents came to school for a visit. We were so excited to share a short message and song with them in the hall before they joined us in our classes. Our grandparents then came into our classrooms and signed our books. Finally our grandparents had a lovely and tasty tea[Read More…]

Classroom plans!

Classroom plans!

What fun we had, making our very own classroom plans from birds eye view. Started off with a mat discussion about our classroom and objects inside it. Then a big conversation about a key for a map. What they are used for and how we can make our own key. The learners were eager to start designing their own classroom[Read More…]

Grade Threes go on a scavanger hunt around the world.

With great excitement two of the Grade Three classes had the experience of a Digital Lesson this week. Working in pairs they were assigned an IPAD. Previously they were taught how to operate Google Earth. They knew how to zoom in and out, pan and glide across the screen. They were amazed that these were real pictures of the Earth[Read More…]
